Sugar Cravings
Sugar Cravings
One of the major problems for a lot of us is sugar craving. This is a condition that might lead to depression or a feeling of lightheartedness. The primary reason for sugar cravings is low functioning of the adrenal gland which secretes epinephrine or adrenaline. Adrenaline is responsible for providing us with energy and secretes cortisone if there is inflammation in the body. Moreover, the adrenal gland replaces the functions of the ovaries in producing estrogen in females and also progesterone when women are bearing the close of their menstrual years. This is often something that is interfered with by stress.
In the event of stress, we tend to experience sugar craving as the adrenals start secreting adrenaline. In this situation, inflammation is caused as result of commonly occurring factors such as diseases or even injuries such as arthritis and others. What most of us may not be aware of is the fact that the stressful situations may even be caused by food allergies. If the allergen is something that is taken frequently, like wheat there can be low grade inflammation taking place on a constant basis. Another common ingredient that is likely to result in food allergies are the dairy products.
The above mentioned factors are more than enough to totally deplete the energy reserves of the human body and when matched with the low estrogen count, there can be nothing done to stop our cravings for sugar. Here are a few methods that help you tackle the craving for sugar:
* Take nuts: Nuts are considered the energy snack. Food is the principal source of energy for the human body and when we are consistently supplying the body with sugar, we are asking the body to take in lots of sugar for conserving our energy. In this case, the best way out is to snack on foods that are rich in protein. This is a better source of energy that makes the body stop asking for that quick sugar snack. Nuts are power foods that stop sugar cravings by supplying the body with the required levels of nutrition. They are a healthier alternative and can sustain the body for longer periods.
* Snack on fruit that is naturally sweet: One of the best ways to fight the sugar cravings is to snack on naturally sweet fruits such as fruits which are rich in fiber. Fiber is helpful in slowing down the absorption of sugar and preventing the levels of our blood sugar from rising too fast.
Water – The Universal Cure
If there was one substance that can be called the cure for all, it has to be water. Well, water is also a cure for sugar craving. Yes! The body’s requirement for water is interpreted as the necessity for sugar. As the prime chemical component of the body, water consists of about 60% of our body weight. All the systems of the body depend on water. You need to take in around 8 glasses of water everyday for maintaining the chemical balance of the body. This is by all means a cure for carving sugar.
